Papers and photographs, 1861-1903.

Papers and photographs of Lt. Frederick A. Bird, a Civil War soldier, who served as regimental quartermaster for the 20th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry from 1862-1865. Consists mainly of quartermaster records from June 1863 to July 1865 when the regiment mustered out. Includes quartermaster receipts, lists of equipment and livestock, equipment condition reports, requisition forms, invoices, affidavits and monthly return reports. Some reports include remarks alluding to the conditions under which the regiment served. The collection also contains some correspondence concerning supply issues, a letter about a missing mustering-in bounty and photographs of Bird taken during and after the Civil War.
